Pakistan and Iran have agreed to fight "terrorism" in their respective areas, Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani told reporters after meeting his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Islamabad on Monday.

The two sides said they respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and resolved to expand security cooperation, stepping up efforts to mend ties after tit-for-tat missile strikes this month at what they said were militant targets.

"There have never been territorial differences or wars between Iran and Pakistan," said the visiting Iranian foreign minister.

Abdollahian also said Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will visit Pakistan "soon," but date was not decided.
