Located in the east of Ningde City, Fujian Province, Xiapu has a coastline of over 480 kilometers and hosts China's largest mudflat. The ebbs and flows of tides bring gifts from the sea. Xiapu people have been living by the sea for generations. Besides harvesting the bounty of the ocean, locals have inherited the tradition of cultivating the sea. They explore the sea and utilize marine resources in new ways. Want to know more about Xiapu people? Check out this video!
About 'Journeys in Nature: Eastern Fujian Series'
The coastal regions in east China's Fujian Province are rich in biodiversity. Goats endemic to the region climb to the top of the seaside mountains to graze. Sea birds circle the cliffs where their nests have been built. In this series, CGTN Nature will take you to where the mountains meet the ocean.
