The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union has signed a protocol to include provisions on cross-border data flows in the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement, the EU Council said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The protocol will provide greater legal certainty, ensuring that data flows between the EU and Japan will not be hampered by unjustified data localization measures," the statement added.
