Riverside rime scenery charms residents in NE China

Frost-covered trees along the Songhua River in Jilin City present a magical scene as wind blows over the icy formations. This annual display of rime is created when water droplets in the humid air from the river freeze on surfaces as temperatures drop. The ice coat can get as thick as 40 to 60 millimeters.
