Traditional Spring Festival temple fairs make a return to Beijing

Traditional temple fairs which feature folk arts and activities for leisure and recreation are returning to Beijing during this year's Spring Festival holiday after being suspended for several years due to the pandemic.

According to the municipal government, temple fairs will resume in the city's iconic outdoor venues such as Ditan Park and Longtan Park. Other popular tourist sites such as the Summer Palace and Zhongshan Park will also stage special festive celebrations for the large numbers of expected visitors.

More than 150 theaters and over 100 museums across the city will remain open to the public during the holiday. Cultural centers and libraries will also roll out a batch of popular cultural activities to provide visitors with a cultural feast.

Meanwhile, a total of 20 million yuan (US$2.8 million) worth of coupons will be released to encourage more film fans to go to the cinema during the Spring Festival holiday, one of the peak periods for box-office earnings in China.
