China has assured the United Nations of its firm support for the UN's central role in global governance. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks on Tuesday in his meeting in Beijing with Dennis Francis, president of the United Nations General Assembly. 

Wang Yi said China also supports the General Assembly in playing a more active role. He also acknowledged the UN's support for the one-China principle.

Francis reiterated the UN's adherence to the one-China principle. He expressed appreciation for China's consistent support for multilateralism and the UN's work. He added the UN is ready to deepen cooperation with China on global challenges.
