A month after a devastating magnitude-7.6 earthquake hit Japan, killing over 200 people and affecting thousands, the Japanese authorities have called for a minute of silence in memory of the victims.
The magnitude-7.6 earthquake hit sections of Japan at 4:10 p.m. local time on January 1, killing 238 people and displacing some 14,000 others on the damaged Noto Peninsula on the Ishikawa coast. The quake was the worst natural disaster to hit the archipelago since 2011.
