Two people have been killed and 222 others injured in a massive fire caused by a gas explosion in Nairobi, capital of Kenya, government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura said on social media platform X on Friday.

The spokesperson explained that one lorry loaded with gas exploded at a gas refilling company in Nairobi's Embakasi neighborhood just before midnight, igniting a huge ball of fire that spread widely.

The scene has been secured and a command center is in place to help coordinate rescue operations.
