When asked about so-called "official ties" between Taiwan and a few Pacific Island countries, Qian Bo, China's special envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs said these are against the interests of their own nations and Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly. These also violate China's sovereignty. Qian Bo said these ties will eventually be corrected, and China remains willing to make new friends.
