The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in January that federal agents could cut the razor wire that Texas has installed at the border between the United States and Mexico. The wire, set up at the order of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, is to deter migrants from crossing into the U.S.

Questioning the court's action, the Republican governor criticized its lack of clarity when it sided with the Biden administration, which wants to remove the razor wire.

CGTN on Wednesday interviewed some residents and an emergency manager in Eagle Pass, Texas, to get their opinions on the escalating tension between Texas and the federal government. One resident, Ashley Cooper, says that politics never helps situations. "It just becomes like everybody wanting to push their own agenda, and it's not what's best for the people," she said.
