Xi made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to exchange Spring Festival greetings with Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.
Xi said he will stay in close contacts with Trong to promote the prosperity and development of the Asia-Pacific region, and make greater contributions to the causes of peace and progress of mankind.
The Chinese president hailed 2023 as a landmark year in the history of China-Vietnam relations.
The two sides have made frequent high-level exchanges, consolidated political mutual trust, deepened comprehensive cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, as well as traditional friendship, he said.
He said his state visit to Vietnam last December has opened a new journey and a new chapter in the development of bilateral ties.
