Two years after the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, China's winter sports sector is still booming.

Around 346 million Chinese people have engaged in winter sports since 2015, and the number of ice and snow leisure tourists is expected to reach 520 million by 2025.

During the 2023-2024 ice and snow season, the number of ice and snow leisure tourists in China is forecast to exceed 400 million for the first time, and ice and snow leisure tourism revenue is forecast to reach 550 billion yuan (about $77 billion), according to the China Tourism Academy.

From 2018 to 2023, the total investment of core heavy assets absorbed in the ice and snow tourism field reached 1.23 trillion yuan. In 2023, 55 new ice and snow tourism projects with core heavy assets were added, with investment of 122 billion yuan, an increase of 10.9 percent compared with 2022.

In July 2023, Harbin officially won the right to host the 9th Asian Winter Games in 2025. 

High-level international ice and snow events have been held in China one after another, which also shows that China's ice and snow sports is maintaining a strong momentum of development after the Beijing Winter Olympics.
