Israel has resumed its assault against Hamas in northern Gaza Strip, dashing Palestinians' hopes they could return to their homes. Its defense minister says Israeli troops will continue their ground assault on Gaza as a way to defeat Hamas. James M. Dorsey, an adjunct senior fellow at Nanyang Technological University, says Israel's effort to destroy Hamas is not succeeding.
