Stringer Dispatch: Chilean residents say forest fires burned everything

Global Stringer

Raging forest fires in central Chile's Valparaiso region have claimed at least 123 lives, the Chilean government said on Monday. Fires sparked in different locations have burned more than 11,000 hectares in Valparaiso, and between 3,000 and 6,000 homes have sustained some degree of damage.

CGTN stringer interviewed some people in the hard-hit Viña del Mar area. “Everything we owned was destroyed in a matter of minutes,” resident Ana Araya said.
