Widespread snow and freezing weather disrupt travel in China

00:41

Widespread snowfall and freezing weather have continued in central and eastern China. The National Meteorological Center renewed a yellow alert for freezing weather, as well as a blizzard blue warning, on Tuesday. Dozens of highway toll stations have been shut down due to blizzards in the provinces of Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Shandong. Weather authorities say rain and snow will continue in southern parts of China until Wednesday. Freezing rain is also expected to continue in most parts of Hunan and southeastern Hubei. Temperatures will remain low in southern China until after Chinese New Year's eve on Friday.
