Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks and Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors have been added to the coming NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, Indiana, as injury replacements for Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and Julius Randle of the New York Knicks.

Randle suffered a dislocation in his right shoulder in the game against the Miami Heat on January 27. Embiid was diagnosed with a displaced flap of the meniscus in his left knee after the game against the Golden State Warriors on January 30.

Neither can play in the All-Star Game on February 18. Per NBA rules, Commissioner Adam Silver picked the replacements, which were Young and Barnes.

Young averaged 27.3 points and 10.9 assists per game for the Hawks this season. He received the second-most fan votes for starters but failed to be recognized by players and media, both of which counted for 25 percent of the votes. The coaches didn't vote him into the All-Star backup roster either.

Nonetheless, Young's performance this season is good enough for an All-Star spot. He got 29.6 points, 11.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game in the past five games, leading the Hawks to win four and return to the top 10 in the Eastern Conference. He will make his third All-Star appearance in Indiana.

Barnes is still in the third year of his rookie contract, but the Raptors see him as their franchise player. A 2.01 meters tall, 102-kilogram forward with all-around skills and remarkable athleticism, Barnes is a standard model athlete for today's basketball. He averaged 20.2 points and 8.1 rebounds, including 2.3 on the offensive glass, 5.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.

Barnes will make his All-Star debut at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as a member of the East.
