The Chinese Opera Gala for the 2024 Spring Festival produced by China Media Group (CMG) is airing on Sunday.
The fashionable and youthful gala is a cultural feast for traditional opera fans. Over 100 Chinese opera artists and outstanding young actors from more than 60 Chinese opera troupes and schools across China gathered together to present over 20 Chinese opera types.
From the three-and-a-half-year-old children to the 84-year-old Peking Opera master Shang Changrong, four generations of Chinese opera artists appeared on the same stage, showing the charm and inheritance of the traditional art.
This year, the gala is endowed with Sichuan characteristics as it took place in Deyang City, southwest China's Sichuan Province. The Chinese opera on stage is fully blended with Sichuan elements, such as Sanxingdui culture, Three Kingdoms culture, and other Sichuan intangible cultural heritages.
The Chinese opera dance "Dream Back to Sanxingdui" uses elements of Sanxingdui cultural relics and employs XR technology to display the "sacred bird" of the ancient Shu civilization, the "iron bird" representing the "Third Front Construction" and China's craftsman spirit, and the "migratory bird" symbolizing ecological civilization.
The Chinese Opera Gala for the 2024 Spring Festival will be broadcast at 8:00 p.m. on February 11 on CCTV-1, CCTV-11, Yangshipin, and other platforms. It will also be repeated on CCTV-3, CCTV-11 during the Spring Festival holiday.
