The Golden State Warriors defeated the Phoenix Suns 113-112 at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, on Saturday, securing their first win out of their four meetings with their opponents during the regular season.
Stephen Curry, 35, shot 10-for-22 from the field to score a team-high 30 points for the Warriors. Nine of his shots were from downtown, including the one that placed his side back in the lead with 0.7 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.
Coach Steve Kerr called a timeout to design this play when there were 3.3 seconds left. Curry was first guarded by Kevin Durant, who was kept away from him by Draymond Green via a pin-down screen. Brandin Podziemski's throw-in was too low, so Curry had to bend down to pick it up. Meanwhile, Bradley Beal, who was supposed to close out to guard Curry, chose to intercept the pass instead of staying in front of Curry to deflect his shot, but he failed to get the ball.

As a result, Curry, the best 3-point shooter in NBA history, had an open shot behind the arc. It was further than usual triples, but not a problem for him. He shot the ball before Devin Booker dashed to help, and the ball fell right into the basket to give the Warriors a one-point lead.
The Suns failed to score in their final two plays. Booker didn't receive the ball on the first attempt, but Andrew Wiggins, who denied him the ball, was called a foul. Durant received the ball on the second attempt, but Green poked it out of his hands before he could make the next move as the game clock ran out.
Curry's remarkable 3-point shooting performance aside, Green and Jonathan Kuminga both made key contributions to Saturday's victory as well. Kuminga shot 16 of his 18 field goal (FG) attempts in the paint and made nine of them to get 21 points. His size, power and athleticism caused the Suns a lot of trouble via attack off the dribble from the weak side.

Green's influence on the game was more comprehensive. He got 15 points, seven rebounds and nine assists and switched to guard different players, including Jusuf Nurkic, Durant, Booker and Beal. Green also kept getting on the Suns' players' nerves by making provocations and whipping up rows in the arena. The Suns, especially Durant, made a lot of unreasonable offensive calls on Saturday night. It's evident that they let Green get into their heads.
The Suns' "Big Three" combined to get 71 points, 20 rebounds and 18 assists in the game, but neither Durant nor Beal performed well. It took Durant 25 field goals to score 24 points. Beal shot 1-for-4 outside the 3-point line. Booker had a court-high 32 points, including 12 in the final period, but he couldn't save the team by himself.

Other games on Saturday (away teams come first):
Chicago Bulls 108-114 Orlando Magic
The Magic trailed 86-80 after the first three quarters at Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, before Franz Wagner stepped out to save the day. He knocked down three triples out of six attempts and made five free throws to get 14 points in the quarter alone, leading his side to outscore the Bulls 21-15, dragging the game into overtime (OT). Then the Magic limited the opponents to shooting 3-for-12 in FGs during the OT to secure their second consecutive win.
The Bulls wasted a dominant performance by Nikola Vucevic, who had a double-double of 26 points and 17 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass. After Saturday's loss, the team remains ninth in the Eastern Conference, but they are only one game ahead of the Atlanta Hawks.
Indiana Pacers 125-111 New York Knicks
The Pacers gave the Knicks their second straight loss as Tyrese Haliburton got 22 points and 12 assists with only one turnover at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday. His orchestration enabled the team to go 50-for-82 from the field. Myles Turner made all nine of his shots to contribute 23 points.
Jalen Brunson got a court-high 39 points for the Knicks and didn't receive enough support from his teammates in the starting lineup. The team's two new arrivals, Bojan Bogdanovic and Blex Burks, added 22 and 11 points off the bench, respectively.
