In Chongqing's Tongliang district, the dragon dance is a tradition celebrated with great enthusiasm and skill. More than that, it's the embodiment of centuries of history and local customs. With its origins dating back nearly 1,500 years to the Sui and Tang dynasties (581-907), and having enjoyed a golden age during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), the Tongliang Dragon Dance today is the fruit of centuries of refinement by its cultural custodians.
