The 2024 Chinese New Year fireworks display was held over Victoria Harbor in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Sunday, the second day of the Year of the Dragon, to celebrate the festive season.

The firework display began at 8 p.m. Beijing time. A total of 23,888 pyrotechnic shells were fired in the 23-minute extravaganza divided into eight scenes, aiming to send New Year greetings to Hong Kong people and tourists alike, and to wish the city steady progress on a new path to stability and prosperity.

Both sides of the harbor, including Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai, were crowded with people watching the fireworks. Many took photos with phones and cameras to capture the spectacular moment.
