The Chinese New Year's Eve dinner is an essential activity during the Chinese New Year. Zein Ali, a Syrian youth who came to China in 2010, spent this year's Chinese New Year with his father and sister in Nanjing, China. Seeing lanterns, shopping for New Year's goods, wrapping red envelopes and making dumplings, Zein and his family tried out the Chinese customs and activities for Chinese New Year. At the same time, the family prepared a New Year's Eve dinner together, and while eating the dinner, they talked about the meaning of New Year's dishes such as dumplings and fish.
