One person was killed and 63 others were injured after the second floor of a crowded Roman Catholic Church in Bulacan province, north of Manila, collapsed on Wednesday morning while Catholics were celebrating Ash Wednesday, as reported by local media outlet Inquirer.

An 80-year-old woman, who suffered blunt force trauma in the incident, did not survive. Mayor Arthur Robes has ordered the damaged church to be closed as investigators inspect the building's structural safety.
