China has successfully established an independent scientific system for Antarctic exploration and research over the past 40 years.

Recently, a team of researchers from Russia's Bellingshausen Station visited China's Great Wall Station in Antarctica for an exchange. They toured the laboratories at the Great Wall station and showed great interest in over 10 experimental instruments and pieces of equipment, including the cryogenic high-speed centrifuge and underwater robots. 

As early as the 1990s, China organized and implemented comprehensive Antarctic system research, focusing on terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems, as well as the Antarctic lithosphere. The research initiative covered 138 topics across seven projects.

The country has continuously increased investment in the construction of Antarctic exploration capabilities in recent years. New research stations and icebreakers have been put into use. 

"Our research stations have become increasingly advanced in terms of technological capabilities. They have also become more focused on practical functions for scientific research," said Qin Weijia, a former official of the Polar Expedition Office under the State Oceanic Administration. 

"Over the past 40 years of Antarctic scientific expeditions, we have achieved a number of remarkable research results that have garnered international attention in fields such as oceanography, glaciology, space, and geophysics," he added.
