All construction modules for the world's first integrated waste management facility have been completed and delivered in Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province, according to the China National Offshore Oil Corporation. The project, set to be built on a 16-hectare artificial island in the waters near Hong Kong's Shek Kwu Chau, involves facilities for garbage classification and recycling, waste incineration for power generation, seawater desalination and sewage treatment. Once operational, it will be able to handle 3,000 tonnes of domestic waste every day and generate 480 million kilowatt-hours of power annually, providing energy for 100,000 households.
