As the major stabilizing forces of the world, China and the European Union (EU) should work together to address global challenges amid the increasingly turbulent international situation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Recently, China and the EU have resumed exchanges at all levels and achieved positive results, Wang noted. The two sides should stick to the China-EU partnership and the keynote of win-win cooperation and respect each other's core interests, he said, suggesting that China is willing to work with the EU to prepare for a new China-EU leaders' meeting.

Wang added that the two sides should further advance their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Borrell said that the European side supports the development of EU-China relations and is against decoupling from China, stressing that the EU firmly upholds the one-China policy. The EU is willing to strengthen coordination in multilateral affairs with China and work together to address global climate challenges, he added.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Ukraine crisis.
