According to data from box office trackers Maoyan and Beacon, China's box office revenue during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday exceeded 8 billion yuan (about $1.13 billion). Cinema attendance hit a historic high of over 163 million. Tickets to see Chinese-produced comedies contributed over 97 percent of the total earnings.
