China is ready to work with Serbia to promote bilateral ties to new heights and open a new chapter of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference held from February 16 to 18.
Wang said that China cherishes the profound friendship and solid mutual trust with Serbia, and is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges and plan for future cooperation.
He noted that China will continue to firmly support Serbia in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, which is not only to consolidate the ironclad friendship between the two countries, but also to oppose secessionist acts, uphold the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, and safeguard international justice.
Noting that trade volume and investment between Serbia and China have grown rapidly after the two countries signed a free trade agreement last year, Vucic said that Serbia will always be a reliable and trustworthy friend of China and work together to push Serbia-China relations to a new level.
