China's National Winter Games main venue runs on green energy

00:59

The major venue of the 14th National Winter Games, situated in Hulun Buir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, relies entirely on green electricity for its daily operations. Wind turbines at the Daxiaoliang Wind Farm supply power to the main venue of the winter games. Each minute of operation at full capacity of a wind turbine on the farm can generate 25 kilowatt-hours of electricity, sufficient to power the main venue's ventilation system for nearly two minutes. To ensure a consistent power supply to maintain the large venue's temperature, lighting, and ice-making system, 1,212 solar panels were installed on the venue's roof and nearby parking lots, guaranteeing a sustained source of green energy.
