Millions of people in China chose to celebrate the Spring Festival this year by immersing themselves in the cultural richness of museums, according to the latest statistics.

Citing preliminary data unveiled by the National Cultural Heritage Administration on Sunday, museums across China witnessed an impressive total of approximately 73.58 million visits during the period from February 10 to 17.

This marked a remarkable surge of 98.6 percent compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.

The administration provided further insight by revealing data that showed museums in eight provinces – Shaanxi, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong, Henan, Zhejiang and Jiangxi – collectively recorded more than 3 million visits.

Highlighting the diverse cultural offerings, the administration reported that Chinese museums nationwide organized over 8,500 themed exhibitions and cultural activities, giving visitors the chance to enjoy rich cultural experiences during the festive season.
