Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday called for efforts to avoid the "lose-lose dynamics" in comments on the Munich Security Report 2024.

"Lose-lose is not a rational choice, and win-win is the future of mankind," said Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The annual report released on Monday ahead of Munich Security Conference underlined worries over the "lose-lose dynamics" amid growing geopolitical tensions and rising economic uncertainty.

Many governments are no longer focusing on the absolute benefits of global cooperation, but are increasingly concerned that they are gaining less than others, according to the report.

The report shows Europe's reflection as well as concerns over the world situation, said Wang.

The Chinese side believes that zero-sum mindsets and decoupling and camp confrontation attempts are behind the "lose-lose dynamics," he said.

More and more countries have realized that lose-lose must be avoided, said Wang.

"We should work together, take into account the interests of others while safeguarding our own interests, and promote common development while pursuing our own development so as to achieve win-win," he said. "Win-win is the goal we should pursue together."

To achieve win-win, countries should choose unity over division, cooperation over confrontation and openness over closeness, said Wang.
