In a significant turn of events at the United Nations Security Council, a draft resolution proposing an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza was vetoed by the United States on Tuesday, drawing strong criticism from China and other members of the council. Chinese envoy Zhang Jun said that objection to a ceasefire in Gaza is no different from giving the green light to the continued slaughter.
