Shandong Taishan scored a last-minute goal to enter the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League quarterfinals after defeating Japan's Kawasaki Frontale 4-2 in the second leg of their last-16 clash in Kawasaki on Tuesday to secure a 6-5 aggregate victory.
Kawasaki won last week's first leg 3-2, leaving Shandong in a must-win situation for the away leg in Japan.
Shandong's Brazilian forward Cryzan da Cruz Queiroz Barcelos, simply known as Cryzan, opened the scoring in the eighth minute when a defensive mistake allowed Li Yuanyi to assist the Brazilian.
Shandong made it two in the 25th minute when Gao Zhunyi buried Valeri Qazaishvili's cross in a counterattack.
Five minutes later, Kawasaki pulled one back as Sota Miura scored from a tight angle, and they tied the game 2-2 in the 58th minute.
In the 73rd minute, Cryzan shot from a distance and leveled the two-legged tie again. In the seventh minute of added time, Jadson hooked the ball into the goal, sending the last Chinese team still in the competition through to the last eight.
The Chinese side will face either Thailand's Bangkok United or Japan's Yokohama F. Marinos in the quarterfinals of the competition.
