With global peace at risk as conflicts are currently plaguing Ukraine and the Middle East, and with just six years to go to meet the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), rarely in recent history has the role of the United Nations be so crucial. How can the UN make peace and development a reality? What role can China play? In this edition of Leaders Talk, Wang Guan sat down with Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, during his recent visit to China. Francis tells Wang Guan that China is an important cooperative partner of the UN and a staunch force in safeguarding world peace. He calls for "turbo-charging" the SDGs and expects that China will be more instrumental in promoting sustainable development, advancing international cooperation, and addressing global challenges.
