On Meizhou Island of Putian in southeast China's Fujian Province, the folk activities celebrating the Lantern Festival are in full swing. Residents of every village parade the statue of Mazu, praying for national prosperity and the people's safety. Along the way, more villagers join the procession, making the escort line longer. Everyone hopes for peace and happiness during this ritual, amid dazzling fireworks.
