Stilt-walking performances have grabbed the attention of this year's Shehuo parade spectators in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, with one stilt walker in the role of "Drunken Guan Yu," taking center stage. Guan Yu has been widely worshiped as a deity across China to protect people's life and wealth in Chinese culture. To better display the role, the performer needs to drink some liqueur to sustain a drunken state, in which he still needs to present the delicate moves and walk on the 3-meter-high stilts.

As a thousand-year-old folk event that forms part of the annual Chinese New Year celebrations, Shehuo features a diverse array of performances that are usually staged on the streets in the regions of northwestern China.
