CMG 2024 Lantern Festival Gala gets 2.99 billion views on social media

The 2024 Lantern Festival Gala, this year's edition of the annual event produced and broadcast by China Media Group (CMG), sparked lively discussions and attracted many favorable comments on social media on Saturday evening.

The topics related to the gala received 2.99 billion views on social media, while the gala contributed to 140 top search topics on the whole network.

The gala's cross-media live broadcast has engaged a total of 353 million people as of 8 a.m. on Sunday, and its live broadcast on new media platforms has drawn 184 million views. In terms of television, the gala has garnered 169 million views. All these figures are higher than those of last year.

The gala, featuring cultural performances and activities such as traditional opera and guessing lantern riddles, has also brought global attention.

For example, CGTN published 1,210 stories about the gala in 68 languages, which received 170 million views worldwide.

Since its first broadcast in 1985, the Lantern Festival Gala has accompanied the Chinese people on the special occasion of family reunions.
