China's Commerce Ministry on Monday expressed strong opposition against the EU listing four Chinese firms on the bloc's 13th sanctions package against Russia, calling the unilateral sanctions and "long-arm jurisdiction" having no basis in international law and no mandate from the UN Security Council.
"This act runs counter to the spirit of the consensus reached at the China-EU summit and will have a negative impact on China-EU economic and trade relations," the Chinese ministry added.
It urged the EU to bear in mind the overall interests of China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership and vowed to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
