Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Monday on the creation of Moscow and Leningrad Military Districts, scrapping the Western Military District.
The military-administrative division decree also ordered to include Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions into Russia's Southern Military District.
Russia incorporated Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson into the Russian Federation in September 2022.
