Chinese short track speed skaters clinch 5 medals as Wang Ye shines at ISU junior worlds in Poland

China bagged five medals, including three golds, one silver and one bronze during the International Skating Union (ISU) World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships that took place from February 22 to 25 in Gdansk, Poland.

China's Wang Ye shined as the 18-year-old skater clinched two individual golds and one team gold during the championships.

She grabbed her first gold in the women's 500m race in 43.921 on February 24, followed by her victory in the women's 1,000m race in 1:50.684 on February 25.

Wang, along with her teammates Li Kun, Song Jiarui and Zhang Bohao, defeated South Korea to take the gold in the mixed team relay final on February 25.

In the men's 3,000m relay, China took the silver in 4:04.009, behind South Korea who won in 4:03.893. Japan took the bronze with 4:04.871.

In the women's 1,500m race, Maja Somodi of Hungary took the gold, ahead of silver medalist Alina Azhgaliyeva of Kazakhstan, and bronze medalist Lyu Wanyu of China.
