China Media Group (CMG) announced on Tuesday the expansion of its online audio streaming service, Yunting (Ethereal Sound), with 41 new programs.

CMG President Shen Haixiong unveiled the new content at a press conference in Beijing, alongside invited guests. The fresh offerings include audiobooks, audio series exploring China's traditional philosophy, drama and literature adaptations, and educational content tailored for children.

Launched in March 2020, Yunting has established itself as China's "national team" of mobile audio streaming, boasting over 260 million users. Notably, the service has garnered a strong presence in-car entertainment, with over 81 million users accessing Yunting within their vehicles, making it the leading audio service for automobiles in China.

As the sole online distributor of CMG's audio content, Yunting leverages self-developed technologies like AI voices and "Audio Vivid" to enhance the user experience, according to Peng Jianming, a member of CMG's editorial board. Peng further highlighted that Yunting is the first mobile app to offer domestically-developed 3D sound, compatible with all major smartphone operating systems.
