David Moyes, manager of West Ham United, recommended his striker Jarrod Bowen for the English national team after he scored a hat trick in their 4-2 win over Brentford at the London Stadium on Monday.

It took Bowen only seven minutes to put West Ham on a 2-0 lead early in the game. Then he added his third goal in the 63rd minute to complete the first hat trick of his career.

"I'm really pleased for Jarrod," Moyes told reporters after the game. "I think his performances recently have gone a wee bit unnoticed because we've not played that well. Jarrod's actually been taking the fight to them in all the games and it's not really fallen for him and it's not quite happened. Tonight it did."

Bowen's incredible performance was integral to ending West Ham's eight-game winless streak in all competitions. Before Monday, they suffered three straight losses in the Premier League and allowed 11 goals without netting even once.

"The goals will obviously be the notable thing, but his all around play, the way he's working. I mean, I thought he had three or four other runs in the game where he was a threat all night," Moyes said. "Generally, I think the goals will hopefully get him back in Gareth's thinking, but I'm not saying he's out of Gareth's thinking because I think the last squad he was probably in and around it. But if you can play wide and you can play center-forward and you're a goal scorer, I think you'll always be interesting to the national manager."

Bowen, 27, was landed by West Ham from Hull City in 2020 with 21.3 million euros (about $23.1 million). He has scored 57 goals and delivered 36 assists in 190 appearances for the club since then. Transfermarkt.com values him at 50 million euros (about $54.2 million) at the moment.

West Ham are in the eighth place in the Premier League with 39 points after 26 games, the same as Brighton which are in the seventh place. Both are eight points behind the fifth-ranking Tottenham Hotspur as well as the UEFA Europa League qualification zone.

"Look, I try to say I think if you look through teams in the Premier League have had difficult periods, difficult months," Moyes said. "I can think of Man City before they went to the World Championship [Club World Cup], Liverpool had periods as well, Man United have had a period. So, I mean West Ham are certainly going to be no different. If anything, we are going to be more likely. We are still trying to grow into it and become more consistent and more reliable."

West Ham will go to Goodison Park to challenge Everton in their next Premier League game on Saturday. Then on March 7, they will play against Freiburg in the first-leg game of the Europa League Round of 16 at Europa-Park Stadion.
