86 percent of the companies claim that they will not decouple from the Chinese market due to U.S.-China trade tensions.
According to the latest report by the American Chamber of Commerce in South China, U.S. businesses are "cautiously optimistic" about their investments in China.
Participants in the survey included 183 companies from diverse industries, half of them American firms. Seventy-six percent of respondents say they plan to re-invest in China in 2024, a slight increase from the year before. But most companies are treading lightly, with only 3 percent planning investments exceeding 250 million U.S. dollars.
American companies and manufacturers were the hardest-hit in terms of revenue growth last year, many citing "fierce local competition" as a major challenge.
U.S.-China relations are also weighing on business minds, but 44 percent of respondents expect bilateral ties to improve this year, a record high.
