"Don Goyo," as the Popocatepetl volcano is affectionately known, has been restless since early Tuesday and is expected to remain so for the rest of the day. Mexico's disaster prevention agency (CENAPRED) reported that over 77 exhalations carrying water vapor, gas, and ashes were registered through its monitoring system. It said it had identified 952 minutes of tremor (19.9 hours) of high frequency and low amplitude in the last 24 hours, as well as a volcano tectonic earthquake recorded at 2:42 local time with a calculated magnitude of 1.2.
