South Korea sets February 29 deadline for trainee doctors to return to work

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol says the government will not compromise on its stand on medical reforms. Meanwhile, South Korean nurses have been given legal protection to perform some medical procedures normally conducted by doctors. About 9,000 trainee doctors have refused to work for the eighth consecutive day in protest against a government plan to increase the number of medical students.
