Chinese automakers are taking the spotlight with quality cars and new technologies at the long-awaited Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS), which kicked off Monday in Geneva, Switzerland. As a major global auto show, GIMS serves as an annual barometer for the auto industry. Electric cars are dominating this year's event.
Sandro Mesquita, CEO of the show, noted that many European auto giants did not show up at this year's event. Some lacked new products, while others cited financial reasons as they have been scrambling to cut costs. Meanwhile, high quality, affordable Chinese electric vehicles are gradually expanding into the European market and becoming the preferred choice for many.
