The death toll from an Israeli bombing of a gathering of Palestinians waiting to receive aid on the coastal road west of Gaza City rose to 104 on Thursday, Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said on social media.

Another 760 people were injured, added the ministry, citing spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qudra.

Israeli military later admitted that dozens of people were hurt as a result of pushing and trampling when aid trucks arrived in northern Gaza.

An Israeli source told Reuters that troops opened fire at "several people" in the crowd who posed a threat to them.
