Interns and resident doctors in South Korea have been on strike for several days, protesting against the proposed increase in medical school admissions. The government has announced that starting in March, medical licenses of intern and resident doctors who are still absent from their posts will be revoked for at least three months, among other legal actions. As of February 28, only 294 of the more than 9,000 trainee doctors who left their posts were back at work, Vice Health Minister Park Min-soo told a briefing.
