The Pearl River, Huaihe River, Minjiang River, Qiantang River basin, and Hainan inland waters in China officially entered a four-month spring fishing ban from Friday, which will last until midnight of June 30.

During this period, all fishing operations, except recreational fishing activities, will be prohibited.

The implementation of a no-fishing zone and fishing ban system in natural waters is significant to the protection of breeding fish and juvenile fish, the recovery of fishery resources, and the promotion of sustainable development of fisheries. It is an important measure to maintain aquatic biodiversity and promote the construction of ecological civilization.

From today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs with local police will jointly start law enforcement operations to prevent any illegal actions, such as capturing fish with poison, bombs and electricity.
