At least one person was dead and two others remain missing after a fishing boat overturned off the coast of Seogwipo, South Korea, early Friday, local media reported.
The accident happened at around 7:24 a.m. local time Friday in waters 12 nautical miles southwest of Seogwipo and 10 people - five South Korean and Vietnamese crew members respectively - were onboard the 33-ton vessel when it happened.
Among the eight people that were rescued, one was found in cardiac arrest and later confirmed dead while the remaining seven people were hospitalized and are in stable condition.
According to South Korea's marine authority, three patrol boats, two helicopters and eight civilian fishing boats are jointly searching for the missing people but strong winds and high waves in the area are hampering the operation.
