The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday expressed strong condemnation after Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians waiting for aid.

The attack, which occurred on a coastal road west of Gaza City on Thursday, killed 104 people and wounded more than 760, according to Palestinian officials.

The Chinese side is shocked by the incident and strongly condemns it, said a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry at a regular press briefing.

The spokesperson extended condolences to the deceased and the injured.

China called on all relevant parties, especially Israel, to immediately end the hostilities and stop the war, effectively protect the safety of civilians and guarantee access to humanitarian relief to prevent the humanitarian disaster from worsening, the spokesperson added.
